∆-27404 - I'll never change   (American Music)
CREST 1057
9109 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, CA   (Sylvester Cross)

Label owned by Sylvester Cross, who mainly concentrated on his American Music Publishing Company, but dabbled in releasing records. Well, with over a 100 releases and issuing the first solo Eddie Cochran record amongst others is hardly dabbling I guess, but the Publ. Co was his main concern and his main income.

Three Stars was a tribute to Buddy Holly, JP Richardson and Richie Valens who had recently died in a plane crash on Feb 3rd 1959. Tommy (Donaldson to use his real surname) had just started his DJ job at KFXM in San Bernardino, CA when the crash happened. Within days of the tragedy, Tommy approached Sylvester at Crest Records with the idea of a talking tribute song for the three. It was his only hit record, reaching No. 11 in the charts in May. Rumour has it that Eddie Cochran recorded it first but was too emotional to get a good take so Tommy talked through the song instead. Tommy moved to Nashville and spent the next 30 years as a producer and promoter. He passed away 26th January 2007.
